Sharp Logo Design Brief

Sharp has been creating high-quality cooking knives for over a decade. We are known for our craftsmanship, quality, and outstanding cuts.

We provide a variety of knives from chef to bread, and we need a new logo to represent our quality. We would like our logo to be black and white, no colours, please. We love logos that focus on minimalism and feature very subtle details.

Designing in black and white is a great way to focus on the details and overall shape of your logo design. We recommend starting in black and white to ensure the logo works in that style. Luckily, this logo requires black and white!


Clear directions for an established company of craftsmanship and requires the log to be in black and white and minimalistic in details.


Knives, shape, edge, clear, simplicity, powerful, craftsmanship.


Sketches started off with a full blade knife and slowly minimalising it to a shape that no longer looked anything like it former idea. It became clear that this angle was not going to work.

Then a set of sharp shapes were introduced to the wordmark to see if it could cut through the word Sharp, it became somewhat distorted.

Finally, the play with the letter A in sharp to include a tapered edge point.


Looking back at some of the ideas on this logo, I feel that more time was needed to explore other thoughts and ideas. I do not believe it cut.

More time was needed to make this logo stand out and represent the true meaning of the image of the company. The troubling issue here was that the brand Sharp Electronics took away much of what was possible in such a short time and brief, all ideas and typefaces ended up looking similar to it big brand Sharp Electronics.
